There is a lot of unburnt powder at your muzzle.
223 so take what I say with a grain of salt, but keep in mind that you're using a barrel that is half the length of the original M-16 which was designed around the 5.56. If that doesn't work I'll slowly raise it to the max load of 27.8 and look for any pressure signs. Think that'll give me around 350 FPS gain? I'm going to load to 27.4 grains and chrono it tomorrow and see how it does. The load sheet for CFE223 (which is specifically for 223, so you would think it has the correct burn rate.hopefully lists 27.4 grains for Barnes TSX FB bullets (think these are the ones with a plastic tip), and 27.8 grains for Speer SP (believe this is the one with the lead tip). Getting 1230 FPS at 5 grains – the load data for Speed GDHP at 5.4 grains says 1102 FPS (from 4" barrel) so I'm amazed I'm getting this FPS from less powder (and a slightly longer barrel). Best 10-round group at 100 yards is 3.5" (which my AR shoots the same group with a red-dot when I'm using a 4x scope it's 2" so this 300 BLK load should hopefully be the same).
